Padre Pio, also known as Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, was an Italian friar, priest, stigmatist, and mystic. He is now venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church. Born as Francesco Forgione, he joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin and received the name Pius (Italian: Pio). Throughout his life, Padre Pio exhibited stigmata, which attracted significant attention. He was beatified in 1999 and canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002.
